INTRODUCTION:- They are unicellular, free living microscopic. Capable of doing all essential functions of life. Posses both DNA and RNA. They are prokaryotic without chlorophyll. They present in water, soil, food, air and all another living and non-living things. They are capable to survive in extreme temperature ,pH and atmosphere.
SIZE OF BACTERIA:- They are very small, visible in only light microscope and electron microscope. Generally cocci are about 1 micrometre in diameter and bacilli are 1-8 micrometre in length and 0.1-0.5 micrometre in width. Without staining we can't see bacteria under microscope.
SHAPE OF BACTERIA:- There are different types of bacteria and all having their unique identical. The shapes are; cocci, bacilli, vibrio, spirilla, spirochetes, actinomycetes, mycoplasm, protoplasm
CLASSIFICATION:- 1) Monotrichous
2) Lophotrichous
3) Amphitrichous
4) Peritrichous
BACTERIOLOGICAL MEDIA:- Media are an artificially prepared mixtures of various nutrients for the growth and multiplicative of microorganisms. A wide variety of culture media are used by microbiologist for the isolation, growth, purification, maintenance and identification of microorganisms.
